“Inflation has stopped.”
Inflation was 3.0% when he took office in Jan 2025. It continued at moderate levels throughout the year — it never 'stopped.' The all-time US inflation high was 23.7% in 1920, not under Biden.
“$18 trillion is being invested in the US because of me.”
This figure has no basis in documented investment data. CNN, FactCheck.org, and multiple outlets have debunked it repeatedly. Trump has never provided a source for this number.
“Gas prices are $2.31 on average.”
The national average was $2.82/gallon on the day he made this claim, according to AAA. No state had an average below $2.31.
“We had the greatest economy in history.”
GDP growth averaged 2.5% in Trump's first term — below Clinton's 3.9% average. Unemployment did reach historic lows pre-COVID, but the economy contracted sharply in 2020 under his watch.
“Mexico is paying for the wall.”
Mexico has never paid for any wall construction. Only 3 miles of new wall were built where none existed before. 235 miles replaced existing fencing. PolitiFact rates this 'Promise Broken.'
“I inherited the worst inflation in history.”
The all-time US inflation high was 23.7% in 1920. When Trump took office in Jan 2025, inflation was already down to 3.0% from a 40-year high of 9.1% in June 2022 — under the previous administration's recovery.

PolitiFact rated this Pants on Fire. The federal investigations ran in 2006–08, under George W. Bush, and in 2019, during Trump’s first term. Comey was in the private sector during both. ABC News reported that many documents — civil unsealing, the Maxwell trial, address books, and flight logs — had been public for years.
“I was never on Epstein's Plane.”
BBC Verify cites that 2024 writing. A Jan. 7, 2020 email from an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York says he is listed on at least eight flights, 1993–1996. A passenger listing is not a finding of wrongdoing.
“No, I had no idea. I had no idea.”
Said when asked if he suspected Epstein was molesting underage women. The Miami Herald and CNN reported an FBI summary of a 2019 interview with former Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter. He recounted a July 2006 call in which Trump said, “Thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this.” That is Reiter’s account in an interview summary, not a recording of the call.

PolitiFact rated this Pants on Fire. The federal investigations of Epstein ran in 2006–08, under George W. Bush, and in 2019, during Trump’s first term. James Comey was working in the private sector during both of those investigative periods. Epstein was arrested on the 2019 federal charges while Trump was president. ABC News reported that many of the documents — records unsealed from civil litigation, exhibits from Ghislaine Maxwell’s criminal trial, Epstein’s address book, and flight logs — had already been public for years. Being named in those records is not a finding of wrongdoing.

BBC Verify reported that sentence from Trump’s 2024 writing. A January 7, 2020 email from an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York, released in the Justice Department’s Epstein files, says he “is listed as a passenger on at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996,” including at least four on which Ghislaine Maxwell was also present. A name on a passenger list is not a finding of wrongdoing. The email is quoted on the flight-logs page.

July 12, 2019 · White House remarks. A reporter asked whether he had any suspicions Epstein was molesting young women, underaged women. On July 31, 2025, asked a different question — whether he knew why Epstein had been taking people from Mar-a-Lago — he answered, “No, I didn’t know.”
The Record
The July 12, 2019 sentence is in the White House transcript. The Miami Herald reported an October 2019 FBI interview summary and wrote that Reiter confirmed the FBI interviewed him in 2019 and that the call was in July 2006. In the summary, he recounted Trump saying, “Thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this.” CNN reported the same summary. This is the chief’s later account, as an FBI write-up of the interview, of what Trump said. It is not a recording of the 2006 call, and it is not a finding that Trump committed a crime. The July 31, 2025 “No, I didn’t know” was about why Epstein was taking Mar-a-Lago workers, as reported by USA Today.
